UAE and World Economic Forum Launch a $1 Million Agentic AI Challenge and a Global Opportunities Centre

Three initiatives announced at the opening of the Forum's Global Future Leaders meeting in Dubai tie Emirati convening power to a prize pool aimed at the world's young AI builders.

The United Arab Emirates and the World Economic Forum have launched three joint initiatives, including a $1 million Global Innovation Challenge focused on agentic artificial intelligence, announced by Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, at the opening plenary of the Forum's Annual Meeting of Global Future Leaders in Dubai.

The prize, presented as the Global Innovation Challenge and Agentic AI Award, is expected to draw 10,000 Global Shapers from 150 countries to develop solutions to modern-day challenges, with the winners to be announced at the next meeting in 2027. The Dubai gathering has brought together leaders and entrepreneurs from more than 100 countries.

Alongside the challenge, the two sides will establish a Global Centre for Future Opportunities to turn technological advances and economic openings into policy, and a Future 20 programme that will spotlight 20 people under the age of 30 seen as capable of influencing the future and leading communities.

Etisalat UAE Moves Its Agentic AI Into Its Own Data Centre With DataRobot

Etisalat UAE and the American AI platform DataRobot have extended their partnership through a new multi-year agreement to build, operate and govern an agentic AI workforce across the operator's business units, with the DataRobot Agent Workforce Platform to be hosted inside Etisalat UAE's own data centre.

The arrangement keeps sensitive data and AI workloads within self-managed infrastructure and brings predictive, generative and agentic AI under a common governance framework. The two companies have worked together since 2022 on predictive applications covering churn prevention, upsell and cross-sell targeting and credit risk, and the new phase extends agentic deployments into customer experience, regulatory compliance, sales effectiveness and operational efficiency.

Mansour Reviews Federal Agentic AI Ecosystem as FedAI Rollout Advances

Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, has chaired a meeting of the Ministerial Council for Artificial Intelligence and Development at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, where the council reviewed progress on FedAI, the national technical ecosystem for agentic AI, and the national capabilities building programme.

The council discussed updates on connecting ministries and federal entities to the platform and the related action plan, and was briefed on efforts to train federal employees on agentic AI models and tools, the phased rollout of AI agents in the next phase, and projects under development in regulatory intelligence and strategic government work.

The Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence has launched GenDubAI, described as a first-of-its-kind digital platform to help parents understand how children use artificial intelligence and guide them towards safe, responsible and creative use of the technology.

Sharjah Turns to an AI Agent to Match Investors With Sites in Seconds

Sharjah's investment promotion agency has launched an artificial intelligence agent named Najm to help foreign investors identify opportunities in the emirate within seconds, as Sharjah seeks to attract more foreign direct investment.

In its first phase, Najm connects investors with industrial facilities and commercial real estate, drawing on property data from Bayut, Property Finder and Dubizzle. A second phase is planned to widen the platform to assets and opportunities in the healthcare and education sectors.
