UAE Pledges $1 Billion to Extend AI Infrastructure Across Africa

The initiative puts sovereign-backed UAE capital behind digital infrastructure abroad, reinforcing artificial intelligence as a pillar of the country's development and investment diplomacy.

The UAE launched a $1 billion AI for Development initiative to advance digital infrastructure across Africa, according to WAM. The state news agency reported the announcement on 23 July 2026, positioning the programme around artificial intelligence and development infrastructure.

The commitment gives enterprise technology providers, infrastructure partners and advisory firms a government-backed route into AI deployment linked to emerging-market digital capacity. For the UAE, the programme extends the country's artificial intelligence agenda beyond domestic adoption into an international development platform.
