Microsoft Sets $15.2 Billion UAE Investment Plan for AI and Cloud Growth
The investment places Abu Dhabi at the centre of a trust-based technology corridor linking Microsoft, G42 and the UAE's sovereign AI agenda.
Microsoft shared plans to invest $15.2 billion in the United Arab Emirates between the start of the initiative in 2023 and the end of 2029, Abu Dhabi Media Office said. His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reviewed the plan with Brad Smith, Microsoft's Vice Chair and President, including expansion of AI and digital infrastructure, local talent upskilling, training programmes and research and development initiatives.
The investment builds on Microsoft's partnership with G42 and is intended to advance AI and cloud infrastructure, digital talent development and trust-based technology collaboration between the UAE and the United States. Sheikh Khaled said the investment reflected global confidence in the UAE's long-term economic vision, while Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Secretary General of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council, said Abu Dhabi and the UAE are embedding technology across government, society and the economy.
Smith said the spending is money Microsoft is deploying in the UAE, not money raised in the country, and that the company is focused on technology, talent and trust. G42 Group Chief Executive Peng Xiao said the Microsoft partnership is focused on execution and impact through digital infrastructure, AI deployment across industries and cross-border collaboration.
