UAE Government Taps MBZUAI To Train 80,000 Employees In Agentic AI

The federal partnership turns the Cabinet-approved shift to agentic government into a named capability programme for ministries and public entities.

The UAE Government has launched a strategic knowledge partnership with Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence to build Agentic AI expertise across the federal government workforce. The agreement was signed by Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future and Chairwoman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, and Professor Eric Xing, MBZUAI President and University Professor.

The partnership supports the national programme approved by the UAE Cabinet to train 80,000 federal employees as Agentic AI experts across all occupational categories. MBZUAI will deliver specialised capability-building and executive education in collaboration with national universities and technology companies, with training focused on Agentic AI-driven transformation, responsible adoption, implementation requirements and practical applications in government work.

Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Secretary General of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council and Chairman of MBZUAI’s Board of Trustees, said the training programme and the target of moving 50 percent of government services and operations to Agentic AI marked a pivotal moment in the UAE’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy. Al Roumi said the partnership translates the leadership’s directives to embed Agentic AI across UAE Government operations, services and procedures.

National Experts Programme Moves Emirati Cohort From AI Stack To AI Value

Thirty-two Emirati experts have completed the second module of the National Experts Program’s AI Track, a course built around identifying sector-relevant AI use cases, understanding cost structures and return on investment, applying UAE governance principles and integrating technical, economic and ethical considerations into AI decisions. The module was titled From AI Stack to AI Value and followed a first technical module held in July.

The cohort engaged with institutions shaping the UAE AI ecosystem, including the Prime Minister’s Office, the UAE Cyber Security Council, the Department of Government Enablement Abu Dhabi, the Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi, Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence and the TAMM app. Participants examined how AI is being operationalised at scale, with sessions on governance, risk management, data frameworks, cost, organisational readiness and whether pilots can become sustainable operating solutions.

AVELIN is supported by technology partners including NVIDIA Inception, AWS Activate and the Dubai Future Foundation, alongside programmes with Red Hat, DigitalOcean and OVHcloud, and said it will focus on converting existing commercial agreements into signed contracts through the rest of 2026.
